Front garden planting scheme, Milcombe

Introduction

We are pleased to present a front garden planting scheme we planted earlier on in 2018 to this front garden in Milcombe near Banbury, Oxfordshire. The planting scheme is based on a later flowering planting scheme but includes plants for spring and mid-summer interest, notable plants include:

The Plant Selection

  • Verbena bonariensis to create height in the garden borders with their deep purple flowers, great landing pads of flowers for Bees and Butterflies
  • Artemisia Powis Castle with its silver-grey fern-like foliage  makes a great contrast to set other garden plants off
  • Perovskia Blue Spire, Known as Russian Sage with its fragrant silvery foliage and powder blue flowers a real magnet for bees
  • Erysimum Bowles Mauve, the perennial wallflower which just flowers to its heart’s content and really delivers year after year with lovely purple flowers
  • Dianthus, known as garden pinks (member of the carnation family) here used as Miss Sinkins for its lovely white fragrant spicy flowers
  • Other notable plants include Camapanulas, Agapanthus, Sedums, and Helleborus to provide later seasonal interest
